Canada was founded on the fur industry. Since the early 1600's furs have been an important part of our economy. The quality of the pelts, manufacturing, and styling have made Canadian furs famous throughout the world. It is our mandate at Snowflake to showcase Canadian designs and Canadian designers. To eliminate those that work in fur would go against what we believe. We believe it is every person's right to make his or her own choice. There are those that do not like the idea of wearing fur, leather, sheepskin, wool or silk because they come from animals. There are those that don't like nylon, polyester, or plastic etc. because they are not natural fibers. There are valid arguments on both sides of the environmental fence - renewable resources, non renewable resources, cruelty to animals, culling, ozone depletion and acid rain to name a few. Anything taken to extreme is bad. In one year two little minks become a 100 little minks. Synthetic fibers take up to 300 years to disintegrate, and are partly responsible for putting a hole in the ozone layer - which takes thousands of years to reverse. Which is worse? Both are bad, but when it is cold you have to wear something. Regardless, it is not for us to decide. We cannot make anyone change their position, nor is it our desire. Our goal is to sell "Simply the best" product we can. This means we sell only the best furs and only from the best companies. We do not carry any endangered species. We do not support manufacturers who exploit their workers. We have made our choice. Now you get to make yours.
